Devices & Installation

Yes, AIRLOCK One is designed for self-installation, and the average setup time is just 15 minutes. For step-by-step installation instructions, click here.

AIRLOCK One is compatible with a wide range of AC input voltages, operating efficiently with 110-240VAC.

AIRLOCK Voyage is designed for flexibility in smaller spaces, it works with 12V DC power or 100-240V AC (adapter included), making it ideal for boats without AC systems.

The number of AIRLOCK One units needed depends on whether you're installing it in a boat or an RV.

  • Boats:
    • One air conditioner serving a specific cabin or area requires one (1) AIRLOCK One.
    • Two separate air conditioners serving two individual cabins or areas require two (2) AIRLOCK One.
    • Multiple air conditioners supplying the same cabin or area require only one AIRLOCK One, regardless of the number of units.

  • RVs:
    • We recommend installing one AIRLOCK One per AC unit to ensure complete air purification throughout your RV.
    • AIRLOCK One is designed to operate without spare parts, refills, or filters, and typically requires no maintenance. However, if your air conditioning system is located in a particularly dusty environment, we recommend a periodic light cleaning of the ion emitters (brushes) using any soft cloth. Always remember to turn off the power before cleaning.

    • AIRLOCK Voyage is extremely low-maintenance, similar to AIRLOCK One. For best performance, periodically check that the air vents are free from dust or debris to maintain optimal airflow.

Absolutely, you can set up AIRLOCK One to operate in synchronization with your air conditioner. To achieve this, connect the device to the AC unit's motor blower rather than linking it to the unit's power board or circuit board. This ensures that AIRLOCK One activates only when the air conditioner is in operation, rather than running continuously.

Installing AIRLOCK One on split system air conditioners can vary depending on the specific setup and location of the units. In many situations, a plug-in installation is feasible, where the unit draws power from the nearest available power source. However, due to the complexities associated with various installation environments, we strongly recommend consulting with a marine electrician. This ensures that the installation is done safely and effectively, tailored to your specific requirements.

For optimal performance, AIRLOCK One is designed to be integrated with an air conditioning unit. The system relies on the airflow generated by the A/C to distribute ions effectively throughout the vessel, ensuring thorough air purification. Using only fans instead of an AC unit may reduce the device’s overall effectiveness.

For vessels without AC, AIRLOCK Voyage is a better choice. It’s specifically designed to function effectively in spaces without an AC system and operates well with just 12V DC power or standard AC (adapter included).

No, each device is uniquely designed for different needs.

  • For boats & RVs with A/C: The hardwired AIRLOCK One connects directly to your boat’s airflow system, ensuring total air purification throughout the interiors.
  • For boats & RVs without A/C: The VOYAGE is a compact, portable air purifier ideal for smaller spaces lacking built-in air circulation, making it perfect for boats with no AC.

For optimal results, we recommend using AIRLOCK One during the warmer months when the A/C is running and switching to VOYAGE during the colder months when the AC remains off. This approach keeps your cabin/space consistently fresh and odor-free, providing year-round air quality tailored to your boat’s & RVs ventilation needs.

The effectiveness of AIRLOCK One in eliminating odors varies based on the nature and intensity of the odor present within the boat's interior. Typically, you should begin to notice a significant improvement in air quality between 1 to 5 days after installation.

For especially strong odors, a few additional days and continuous operation may be necessary to achieve optimal results.

  • AIRLOCK One: Completely silent, as it has no moving parts or fans.

  • AIRLOCK Voyage: Equipped with built-in fans for optimal air circulation. While not entirely silent, it operates at a low noise level that won’t disrupt the environment.

The average life expectancy is 5 years and it depends on many factors such as room temperature, humidity level, and other specific usage conditions. We’ve seen AIRLOCK One devices in use several years after they were installed and they are still working without issue.

AIRLOCK can work in conjunction with a UV light. However, it is not necessary, as bipolar ionization technology is significantly more effective at addressing air contaminants. UV light sterilizes only what passes directly through it, whereas ionization releases charged ions into the air, capturing pollutants mid-air.

  • AIRLOCK One:
AIRLOCK One is our flagship air purifier, designed to perform exceptionally well in all boats and RVs when properly installed. Rather than being limited to a specific square footage, it uses your AC system to circulate purified air effectively. For optimal results, we recommend installing one unit per AC system per cabin to ensure comprehensive purification.

  • AIRLOCK Voyage:
AIRLOCK Voyage is a standalone air purifier, perfect for smaller spaces that don’t rely on an AC system. It provides effective coverage for areas up to 100 sq. ft., making it a great choice for compact cabins or specific zones requiring targeted purification.

AIRLOCK One is compatible with both 50 Hz and 60 Hz electrical systems and operates within a voltage range of 100-240V, making it suitable for use in various regions worldwide.

Technology

AIRLOCK One features Bipolar Ionization Technology—similar to systems used in hospitals and commercial HVAC—to generate a balanced quantity of negative and positive ions. These ions bond with oxygen molecules in the air and are then recirculated through your boat's AC system and ductwork. This process effectively neutralizes lingering odors at their source and captures airborne contaminants such as mold, mildew, and bacteria.

All current AIRLOCK One products comply with UL 867 the Standard for Electrostatic Air Cleaners, to ensure no more than 0.05 parts per million (ppm) of ozone are produced which is considered no harmful levels of ozone.

AIRLOCK One eliminates coronaviruses (bovine & porcine), H1N1 influenza (swine flu virus), pollen, dust mite allergens, DNA viruses, black mold, bacterial spores, fungi, staphylococcus, pet dander, tobacco smoke, and many more pathogens.

AIRLOCK One is NOT an ozone generator, and thus, no material deterioration has been observed. Unlike ozone generators that emit 'shock' levels of ozone to clean the air, AIRLOCK One uses Bipolar Ionization Technology to purify the air safely. AIRLOCK One is engineered in compliance with UL 867, which is the Standard for Electrostatic Air Cleaners. It ensures ozone production is limited to no more than 0.05 parts per million (ppm), a level considered harmless.

AIRLOCK One Bipolar Ionization Technology effectively prevents the formation of airborne pathogens such as mold spores, bacteria, and viruses. AIRLOCK One generates millions of negatively and positively charged ions that adhere to the oxygen molecules surrounding mold spores while they are suspended in the air. This interaction causes the ions to extract hydrogen from the pathogens. Once the essential hydrogen is removed, the mold spore is either deactivated or undergoes decomposition before it can settle on surfaces safeguarding the boat's interior.

Troubleshooting

Firstly, observe the purple LED on the front face of the device; when AIRLOCK One is functioning as intended, this light will be illuminated. For an optional, additional verification step, a non-contact voltage tester can be utilized. Simply position it near the ion emitters/brushes of the device - a voltage indication will confirm that AIRLOCK One is actively working to purify and freshen your air.

In the event that the LED indicator does not light up, please ensure AIRLOCK One is installed correctly: the black and red wires should be securely connected to the power source. Ensure all connections are firm and accurate, guaranteeing optimal functionality for your air purifier.

These are very important factors to consider if odors persist after installing AIRLOCK One:

Underlying Cause: AIRLOCK One is designed to effectively break up the molecular structure of odors and smells, providing the feeling of fresh air indoors. However, it's crucial to understand that persistent odors may indicate an unresolved underlying issue. If the root cause of the odor isn't addressed, AIRLOCK One might not be able to completely neutralize the smell as it's continuously combating new odors from the same source. We recommend inspecting common areas where unpleasant odors originate, such as the bilge, holding tank, any leaks, clogs, or deteriorated hose lines. Addressing these issues alongside using AIRLOCK One will ensure the freshest onboard experience.

AC Service Area: AIRLOCK One must be connected proximal to the specific AC unit that supplies conditioned air to the area or space with the odor problem. This ensures that the air-purifying ions are carried through the ductwork and into the affected area.

If the light on your unit is going on and off, it may indicate an issue with the installation or power connection.

Here are a few steps you can take:

  • Check the Power Connection: Ensure that the power connection is secure and properly installed.
  • Inspect the Fuse: Verify that the fuse is intact and functioning correctly.
  • Non-contact Voltage Reader: Simply position it near the ion emitters/brushes of the device - a voltage indication will confirm that AIRLOCK is actively working to purify and freshen your air.

If the problem persists, please reach out to us with the following:
