Black “soot” near your AIRLOCK One can happen and isn’t harmful—it’s a sign the unit is actively removing particles from the air. 

Ionization charges airborne particles (dust, mold spores, etc.), which then clump and settle out of the air, often collecting near the brushes or nearby surfaces, especially in cabins with existing pollutants or older materials.

To clean, power the unit off and wipe the ion brushes and surrounding area with a soft, dry cloth.
